heading number1 I began my aviation career by obtaining my Commercial Multiengine while in high school by working as a line boy. I attended Grove City College on an Air Force R.O.T.C. Scholarship and graduated with a BA in Psychology and a BA in Religion. During college, I also worked as an aircraft mechanic and completed all requirements for my A&P License by apprenticeship. I am an FAA certified Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic.
I served as a United States Air Force Pilot from 1978 to 1984. As a C-141 Aircraft Commander my job was flying global airlift missions in support of the Department of Defense. I also served as a Wing Command Post Duty Officer and was in charge of the daily dispatch and recovery of over 50 aircraft on worldwide sorties. I received the Air Force Commendation Medal for my efforts.
In 1984 I began flying for a major airline. In 1989 I became a DC-9 Captain and a DC-9 Check Airman in 1996 and remained so until parking the fleet in 2001. During that time I was also responsible for conducting new-hire pilot interviews. I have also received Type Ratings on the Airbus A320 and the Airbus A330. I am currently an Airbus A330 Instructor Pilot and International Flight Officer.
My diverse background in general aviation, military aviation, and commercial aviation affords a unique perspective for understanding a pilots frame of reference. My formal education offers an additional professional perspective in human resource management.
