I received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Marquette University in 1995, followed by receiving my P.E. license in 1999. Although my engineering focus has been traffic signal timing and design, I have experience in a broad range of civil engineering planning and design topics. From bid document preparation and cost estimating for construction projects to long term strategic route planning, my career as an engineer has included a spectrum of civil engineering design.
In the traffic signal design field, I have designed fiber optically connected signal systems and created system timings to progress traffic at an optimal rate throughout multiple signals. This particular focus has enabled large decreases in lost time for motorists waiting a red lights without requiring the funding of road reconstruction.
Traffic signal design in my career has included both design and timings of the signals themselves, including autoscope design (camera detection and intersection surveillance sytems). It has also included both standard pedestrian signal design and audible pedestrian signal design.
As an engineer I worked for an engineering firm for 4 years, after which I started my own consulting business. I am currently prequalified with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and certified as a DBE with IDOT.
