BIO / Resume / CV:
I received my Occupational Therapy degree from McGill University in 1987 and a graduate degree in ergonomics in 1993 from the Montreal Polytechnic Institute. I am enrolled in a doctorate in occupational therapy at Rocky Mountain University, expecting to receive my degree in the summer of 2007. Since 1990, I have worked with workers to maintain employment or get back to their job after an injury or a disease, using their own work activities as therapeutic modalities. I am primarily involved with people having sustained musculoskeletal injuries but have successfully treated people with other disabilitating conditions such as neurological problems (MS, spinal cord injuries etc) and mental health adjustment problems (depression, personality disorders etc.). Since 2003, I am teaching evidence-based practices as it relates to work rehabilitation to last year occupational therapy students at Montreal and McGill Universities. In the last 6 years, my practice has naturally geared toward legal expertises, where I help determine to what degree the work tasks are likely to have caused an injury or whether a worker could execute the tasks involved in a specific job title. My interests include the work psychosocial and organizational contexts and their impact on the worker's return to work. I have published and spoke at conferences for a variety of audiences, including the medical and the legal arenas.
