EW #13812 dedicated nearly his entire police career with the Miami Police Department to homicide and death-investigation cases. EW #13812 was recognized as Miami P.D.’s most outstanding officer on numerous occasions, as well as the most outstanding officer in the entire county several other times. EW #13812 was given the eulogistic title of “Dean” of the Miami Police Department’s Homicide Unit. During his time in the Homicide Unit with Miami P.D., EW #13812 not only commanded the Homicide Unit at times, but was also the senior officer and acting Commander in the entire Investigative Division at the Police Department, a division that encompassed nearly 100 Detectives and support personnel.
During EW #13812's last 10 years in the Homicide Unit, he was in charge of the “Cold Case Squad,” investigating hundreds of Miami’s open murder cases dating back to the 1940’s.
