Short Biography:

Research Assistant, North Carolina State Univ., 2000-2004

- Conducted two projects sponsored by NASA in nanotechnology. Organized the research schedule and provided the technical reports. Published more than five first-author papers.
- Developed novel discrete and continuous models to investigate the fracture mechanism of nanomaterials and nanocomposites. Completed fracture and fatigue analysis utilizing finite element methods and molecular dynamics simulations.
- Developed novel numerical methods to calculate fracture toughness in discrete systems. Performed detailed analysis of crack growth in covalently bonded materials.
- Analyzed and simulated the structural properties of carbon nanotubes. Conducted stress analysis of nanotubes in the cylindrical coordinate.
- Designed a micro-electro-mechanical system and completed the mechanical analysis. Investigated the applications of nanotubes in mechanics.

Research Assistant, Univ. of Sci. and Tech. of China, 1996-2000

- Conducted mechanical analysis of electro-rheological materials. Designed and built automobile dampers made of this material. Completed vibration and structural analysis.
- Invented a novel experimental technique to measure the elastic properties of electro/magneto-mechanical materials.
- Developed an analytical model of the shear mechanism of electro/magneto-mechanical materials.
