Short Biography:
I qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1959, and subsequently spent four years working in the Far East for a commercial firm. I returned to England early in 1963 to establish my own Accountancy Practice, which is now the Leicester office of a national firm of Chartered Accountants, BKR Haines Watts.
My accountancy and consultancy experience covers a wide range of business activities and trade association work, as well as the usual functions associated with accountancy practices in the Small to Medium sized Enterprise area (SME's). I held an Insolvency Licence until the end of 1998, and was a Registered Auditor until the end of 1999.
My consultancy activities include the independent valuation of businesses; negotiations for U.S.M. listing; advising on a three-way merger (and subsequent break-up!); preparing prospectuses and negotiating the sale of businesses; advising the vendors on the sales of minority interests; advising the purchasers in a management buy-out; acting as nominee in a substantial individual voluntary arrangement; negotiating finance facilities for various clients; assisting clients in resolving a wide range of disputes.
After becoming a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in 1984, I was admitted to the Panel listing in June 1987, and subsequently to the Register of experienced Arbitrators. I am a Member of the London Court of International Arbitration.
Arbitration appointments include a number of loss of profit claims; a wide range of partnership dissolution disputes; investment disputes including unauthorised use of clients funds, incorrect advice on pension matters and inappropriate investment.
I am an active member of the Panels for the Association of British Travel Agents, the Finance and Leasing Association, the Mortgage Code and Personal Insurance Arbitration Schemes. I have joined the newly formed On-line Arbitration Panel.
I am a member of the recently formed Adjudication Panel for certain banking disputes, administered by the London Court of International Arbitration.
I was admitted as a practising Member of The Academy of Experts in August 1994, and have Law Society approval. Expert Witness appointments include reports for claimants in loss of profit disputes; reports for parties in partnership disputes; business and share valuations; accountants professional negligence claims, and a negligent investment advice claim. I have acted as a Single Joint Expert, and have undertaken Expert Determination appointments.
I have completed the Mediators Training Course run by the Centre for Dispute Resolution, and am a CEDR Accredited Mediator. I am a member of the Association of Midlands Mediators.
