EW #319  is the founding member of Consultants, a physician group that provides emergency physician staffing to two busy emergency departments in , Texas. He is a graduate of Stanford University, and earned his medical degree from Southwestern Medical School where he was a merit scholarship recipient. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society in 1981 and received an outstanding intern award from the University of Utah Hospital in 1983. From 1986 through 1999, he was the medical director of the emergency department at Sierra Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, a facility that treats close to 40,000 patients per year.Since 1996, he has also practiced at Hospital in El Paso as co-medical director and managing partner.
 
He was a research fellow at the University of Utah Burn and Trauma Center and has published several articles that have appeared in the American Journal of Surgery, Current Surgery and the American Journal of Physiology.
