Dr. Mayer is a full-time professor of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health and Psychiatry that at does part-time consulting in epidemiology and biostatistics. One of the few MD/PHD biostatisticians. He splits his time between Baltimore and Phoenix. His primary interests are the evaluation and validation of statistical and epidemiological data and models in a clinical, regulatory, or legal arena. Focuses on problems where the medical issues are complex, the methods and models are varied and the data are limited or contradictory. Problems often include complex chart reviews across specialties and across patients. He has worked on problems in drug and device development and regulation, product liability, occupational and environmental exposures, and medical malpractice. and data and model interpretation in cardiology, Ob/Gyne, psychiatry, primary care, endocrinology, and surgery. Has given about a twenty depositions, and has appeared in depositon or trial about a dozen times in a variety of cases ranging from major federal class-action and MDL litigation to state malpractice suits.
