EW #11318 is an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at The Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University. He has taught at NYU for the past five years. Prior to teaching, he was an executive in the advertising industry for 30 years, working for several of the top agencies in the world. He consults as an expert witness in cases involving deceptive advertising and promotion, and brand name infringement.

His 30 years experience in advertising and other forms of integrated marketing communications, combined with his five years of teaching experience, gives him a unique perspective on issues in the areas of marketing, branding, advertising, sales promotion, and other forms of marketing communications.

EXPERT WITNESS EXPERIENCE

In 2003, EW #11318served as an expert witness in a lawsuit involving allegations of deceptive advertising, specifically in the area of consumer sales promotion. EW #11318eveloped his opinion in the case based on scholarly texts, trade articles, and his own personal experience. Shortly after his expert witness opinion was submitted, the lawsuit was settled out of court.

EW #1318currently teaches Advertising Management and Marketing Management at both the graduate and undergraduate level at the Washington Square Campus. His Advertising Management course covers all forms of integrated marketing communications, including advertising, direct marketing, sales promotion, on-line marketing communications, public relations, sponsorships, and special events.
He has also taught MBA candidates at the NYU satellite campus at Manhattanville College in Westchester.

Prior to his career in teaching, he was an executive in the advertising business from 1969 to 1999, with three of the largest and most successful agencies in the world. He worked for Ted Bates & Company, Lintas Worldwide and, for the majority of his career, BBDO Worldwide. EW #11318retired as a Senior Vice President and Account Director at BBDO in January, 1999.

He consulted for an Internet start-up bank in 1999, shaping the banks business strategy and market positioning. In his 30 years experience, hefocused on helping many clients create, manage, and sometimes revitalize many famous brands.

Lintas Worldwide (formerly SSC&B), Account Supervisor (1972 1977)
At Lintas, hisclients included the Noxell Corporation, Johnson & Johnson, Tropicana Products, Lego Toys, Norwich Pharmacal, The Encyclopaedia Britannica, and Doubleday Publishing.

Ted Bates Worldwide, Account Executive (1969 1972)
EW #11318clients at Bates were Colgate Palmolive, International Paper, and Nabisco Brands. He worked in Bates California office for part of this time.

1968, Treasurer and Advertising Director, Congressional Campaign
Upon graduation from NYU, he joined a congressional campaign in upstate New York, as the treasurer and advertising manager. He developed creative strategies, wrote copy, produced ads and commercials, developed media plans, bought media and trafficked the advertising material.
