Short Biography:
Eleven years of deep sea experience on a wide range of vessels as Third Mate, Second Mate, Chief Mate and Master. Chief Mate aboard freighters, tankers, container ships and passenger vessels. Captain of freighters. Qualified by United States Coast Guard, for more than thirty years, to command any vessel of any size and any power on any body of water in the world.
Five years as Port Captain with Grace Line and Prudential Grace Line.
Fourteen years as Maritime Labor Representative for the International Organization of Masters, Mates & Pilots.
Developed test questions for Unided States Coast Guard license examinations for Educational Testing Service, Princeton, New Jersey.
Presently serving as United States Coast Guard Auxliary instructor of safe boating (Flotilla 5-4). Assists on States Coast Guard patrols including boarding of vessels for inspection. Extensive experience in operation of privately owned vessels, including intracoastal waterway experinece from New York to Florida. Provides training and safety instruction in the operation of pleasure of and recreational boatas including personal watercraft.
Since 1975 has testified as Maritime Expert in Federal and State Courts, before Unided States Coast Guard Board of Investigation Hearings and before a Congressional Committee. These cases involved injuries to seamen, passengers and longshoremen on ocean-going vessels as well as recreational boating acidents. Approved by New Jersey State Court as an Expert Witness in boating accidents.
