He is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a Bachelors Degree in Public Administration. Hebegan his career in the Public Assembly Industry in 1971, and served as the Assistant Director of the Tucson, Arizona Convention Center from 1971-1979.

In 1980 hewas hired by the Portland Oregon Exposition Recreation Commission, where he served as the Chief Executive of the Commissions facilities, which included the Portland Convention Complex, Portland Coliseum, Civic Stadium, and the Portland Performing Arts Center.

EW #327 as hired in 1986 as the Director of the Orlando, Florida Centroplex. The Centroplex is an operating agency responsible for the operation of the Orlando Expo Center, Orlando Arena, Citrus Bowl Stadium, Tinker Field Baseball Stadium, Ben White Raceway, Bob Carr Performing Arts Center, and several commercial properties, including two restaurants and the administration of a hotel lease for the City of Orlando.

EW #327 accepted the position of President and Chief Operating Officer for the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in 1990. During his tenure the convention center has been expanded two times to respond to market demand.

The hospitality industry acknowleges him as a quality operator with a focus on quality service delivery, and strong emphasis on maximizing revenue. He has also been a pioneer in the development of Management Contracts in the Convention Center Industry, and has established a reputation as a presenter of outstanding food service operations.

EW #327 has considerable experience in the planning, programming, design and construction of numerous facilities. During his career, hehas overseen the construction of five separate projects with a value of eight hundred and fifty million dollars.

Recognized as both a leader and expert in his field, he has served as President of the International Association of Assembly Managers (IAAM), is past Chairman of the Asia Pacific Exhibition and Convention Council (APECC), and is the Chair Emeritus of the World Council of Venue Management (WCVM); an umbrella organization representing nine, worldwide professional associations in the public assembly management industry.

EW #327 has served as an adjunct lecturer for the Washington State Universitys Hotel and Restaurant School and has served as an adjunct lecturer for the University of Central Florida. Heis a frequent lecturer and trainer throughout the world in the field of facility management, and is also a Certified Facility Executive and has chaired the IAAMs Certification Board and the IAAMs Consulting Board. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Governors for the Senior Executive Symposium, presented by Cornell University.
