Background
Since qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Alan has gained experience in taxation, insolvency and mergers and takeover work as well as general audit experience having worked with KPMG, Coopers & Lybrand and more recently, Calthorpes where his clients ranged from sole traders to multi-million pound turnover clients.
He is experienced in international tax issues dealing locally with relevant Taxation Offices world wide, including tax planning problems, investigation work and generally give advice on how to mitigate all forms of taxation.
Having been trained in legal mattesr as well as in areas of accountancy and taxation, Alan deals with a wide range of specialisations including:
Contractural disputes; fraud investigations; breach of warranty claims; business interrupation and consequential loss claims; share valuations; shareholder and partnership disputes; professional negligence claims; general taxation advice relating to both UK and overeas; personal injury and medical negligence; civil and criminal tax investigations; family and matrimonial disputes; director disqualification matters and offshore company structures.
He has also given evidence in Courts in both the UK and USA on accountancy matters.
Forensic Accounting and Dispute Resolution
The Forensic Accounting and Dispute Resolution department now has dedicated partners and qualified staff in each of our London, Manchester and Birmingham offices.
The department assists the legal profession, insurers and regulatory and prosecuting bodies in the pursuance and defence of claims by providing expert opinions in the quantum of loss. Members of the department have a detailed knowledge of a wide range of businesses and industries. Partners have considerable experience of giving evidence in Court in both civil and criminal proceedings.
With the new Civil Procedure Rules in effect, the appointment of a single expert may, in many cases, become the norm.
